The voluntary service for
foreigners is frequently and needed throughout the year. Voluntary is
proving to be rich in experiences as for volunteers than children and
staff. Volunteering with Grace Home is to become a member of our family!
A service
• Your involvement as a volunteer: According to the volunteer's interest and his/her service period, volunteer can be involved in the shelter by several ways.
1.Educational and affective mission
The main objective is to take care of children during the daily routing. As an example:
- Help children get ready for school (putting on uniform and preparing school bags...).
- Help with and check children's homework (English, Math, Social, Headway...).
- Organize games and activities or excursions for holidays (park, museum, zoo...).
- Learn to the children the good habits of hygiene (wash hands, brush teeth ...).
- Volunteers should provide all children with affection, attention and security.
2. Administrative and logistic mission
- Volunteers can help with administrative work in order to support the management of the shelter (computer abilities, correcting grammar, suggestions...).
- In the running of the shelter, volunteers can also assist the staff with cooking Nepali foods or new meals and keeping the grounds tidy.
- Finally, other shorts works (renovating, painting, repairing...) can be assist by the volunteers if it's need.
3. Carry on is own project.
Grace Home often volunteers with a special project (education, sanitary, construction...). In this case, the project's terms and supports should be validating with Grace Home first. Any kind of project can be appreciated if it respect and pursue Grace Home's vision.
4. Volunteer in St Grace School
During the day, volunteers are welcomed to act within the Saint Grace School, as an assistant teacher or in organizing special program (sport activities, teaching games...).

• How to become a volunteer:
Volunteers who are interested in joining Grace Home are invited to contact in Grace Home which is also responsible of the voluntary service, our information officer will provide all type of information for your service in the shelter (application form, missions / projects, accommodation...).
• Information and conditions for volunteering
- Volunteers must be more than 19 years old.
- Volunteers must have a passport updating as well as a Nepali visa (request in arrival). They are also required to have travel insurance that provides for their health cover.
- Grace Home is unable to provide volunteers with a salary for their work and cannot pay for their travel, visa or passport.
- Grace Home provides volunteers with the same food as children and staff: mainly dal bath (lentil soup, vegetable, and rice) for breakfast and dinner and a small snack for lunch. If you wish to eat something else you are required to pay for this yourself.
- Volunteers can be accommodated inside of the shelter (simple room for two people) or in a beautiful Nepali family's house close to Grace Home (for a cheapest rent). If you wish to sleep outside of the accommodations provided, you are required to pay for this from your own funds.
- Grace Home Organization does not charge a fee for your volunteer services; however a small contribution can be appreciated for food and electricity.
- At the end of the service, a certificate of voluntary service will be providing. In the same way, we request our volunteers to write a short report of their mission (opinions, ideas, suggestions and difficulties faces...).
- As a member of our family, volunteers must respect the basic rules and regulations of the commune life as well as the following notices:
◊ It is clearly forbidden to smoke, bring hard drink or use drug inside of Grace Home. As it is forbidden to be drunk or under the effect of drugs within Grace Home.
◊ Don't use violence or bad language with children and ensure that nobody does.
◊ Make sure of security in Grace Home and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
